Nyrstar selected Studio IQ to improve on their current pen and paper process of measuring Hi-Vol metals in the air. Their current process suffered - as most do - from manual entry and transcription errors, so making sure the application was easy to use and made data entry as simple as possible was a must.

We leveraged the jQuery Mobile UI Framework and Lawnchair (a simple JSON storage library) to develop a mobile application for use on any smart phone or tablet, which addressed the problem of manual data entry on two fronts. Firstly we designed the form so when possible fields where both pre-filled and only allowed values that made sense in the current context and secondly added range monitoring so that if a entry looked like it was outside expected values, that the team member was notified to double check their work.

Both of these measures has lead to much more reliable and accurate information making its was back to the safety and quality assurance portal.

In addition to the mobile field application Studio IQ also designed a management portal that tracks all measurements taken against their locations and team members to further simplify the quality assurance process.
